We had lots of fun learning all about Ancient Greece. We reinacted some Greek myths; took part in some Ancient Greek Olympic Games and we learned how to be Greek Warriors!
During our topic on Ancient Greece we looked at the designs of Greek pots. We tried to find out what it told us about the lifestyles of this civilisation by looking at the artwork they included. We then designed and created our own pots using clay.
We had a fantastic Greek day in December. Alongside Mrs Mackay and Mrs Edgley’s class, we took part in a variety of fun activities including puzzles, quizzes, drama, traditional Greek games. We also loved hearing about the Greek lifestyles and of course the fantastic myths. Definitely one of the highlights of the year!
During September’s European Languages day, Year 5 studied Portugal. We learnt about some places in Portugal as well as some of their food and traditions. We found out about the cockerel (who is a familiar symbol of the Nando’s restaurants), and how this links to Portuguese traditional tales. We learnt some of the language and have since been using it in our daily registration.
Over two days the children in Year 5 worked towards achieving their Arts Award by carrying out fun activities using ipads. They created super hero versions of themselves using photography and digital software. The results were amazing and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
