Year 3 – St Martin
Welcome to our class page.
We hope you enjoy visiting our class page so that you can see some of the learning the children have been doing.
year 3 autumn 2
St Martins Class were lucky enough to take part in a dance and drama workshop. Highly Sprung theatre company came into school and taught us all about the gunpowder plot through drama and dance. We learnt about King Henry VIII and how that led up to the Gunpowder Plot against King James I and Parliament. Everyone had lots of fun whilst learning lots of new and interesting facts.
During science we have been learning about magnets and forces. We have been experimenting with how friction slows down toy cars and on which surfaces friction appears the most and also which materials magnets can still work through. All of the children have had lots of fun making predictions and investigating them.
This morning St Martins class have been learning about metres and magnet strength. We have enjoyed investigating using different magnets and the measuring sticks.
Arts Week has begun at St Brendans and Year 3 had great fun retelling the story of A Midsummer Nights Dream by Shakespeare in their drama workshop. They then worked incredibly hard creating pictures of different scenes from the play using pastels. We are looking forward to trying out a variety of different art forms this week.
Today we tried out street art on the playground. Can you spot our pictures when you collect us from our classroom? We also made collages using lots of different materials. Everyone is really enjoying learning new techniques this week.
