In our RE lessons we have been learning all about the signs and symbols used in Baptism. We used role play to act out the different parts of a Baptism, we had to decide who was going to be the parents, Godparents and the priest. We then performed our Bapitsm to the rest of our class.
We have been very busy in Science the last few weeks, planning and carrying out our own investigation. We found out which material makes the best parachute. We had to design four different parachutes using paper, cling film, tin foil and a plastic bag, we made them and then we dropped them out of the window. We timed how long it took each parachute to fall to the ground. We found out that plastic bag made the best parachute because it was the slowest to fall to the ground. We discovered this was because lots of air was trapped inside the bag, slowing it down.
We had a great day celebrating European Day of Language, our class was ITALY! We learnt some words in Italian and learnt some facts about Italy. We made our own Italian Flag but best of all we made our own pizza! We worked in a team to make a pizza and then Miss Sullivan and Miss Williams cooked it for us and we got to try a piece each! It tasted delicious.
In Science, we have been learning all about materials. We have sorted objects into the materials they are made from and we have found out how the same materials can be used to make different objects by exploring our school environment. Our favourite part was learning in our new outdoor classroom!
In our English lessons we have been learning about writing instructions. We worked in a team to make a healthy fruit salad which tasted delicious! We then wrote the instructions up.
We were very lucky to have a Scientist visit our class this week! She taught us lots about hot and cold using a special camera which showed us the different temperatures of things around us. We also saw some amazing experiments using dry ice. We had a fantastic afternoon!
